These sets of books are used in class. Every pupil gets their own copy for the duration when that specific novel is read in class. Read-in investigated which authors are represented in this library and are read in class. The books still resemble the ones of those Read-in members who went to school in Germany in the 1980s and 2000s.
ID: Silver sticker sticking out of books of a grey bookcase at the IHLIA archive. The sticker has the inscription at the center “Why are the authors of the books I read so white so male, so Eurocentric?”, circled by “There is No such thing as innocent reading!” to the left (that is hidden by the books) and “read-in.info” towards the right. The sticker is printed on mirror paper and reflects the books in the book case. Each book has a white label with black lettering at the bottom part of the spine indicating the system of categorization applied in the archive.
The photograph has been used as visual material for the digital event “Intersectional Search in Queer and Trans Archives” that took place on November 4th, 2020, 19:00-21:30
